Lougheed sits at the edge of Burnaby where the towers meet the older stretch along the highway, and it is also the jumping-off point for a lot of our moves into Coquitlam and Port Moody.

Towers near the town centre

The Lougheed Town Centre area has added several new residential towers in recent years, most with the same freight elevator booking rules as the Metrotown and Brentwood buildings. We treat the paperwork the same way: confirm the window, bring the right protection for the lobby and elevator cab, and stage the load so the booked time is used efficiently.

The older highway stretch

Further along Lougheed Highway, older apartment buildings and small houses make up a different kind of move, usually with street parking rather than a loading dock and no elevator booking to plan around. These are often quicker jobs, but the highway traffic itself needs planning for, since a move during rush hour adds real time to a short drive.

The bridge into Coquitlam and Port Moody

A large share of our Lougheed-area moves continue on into Coquitlam or Port Moody, which is close enough to still be billed as a local move rather than a long-distance one. Crews who do this run regularly know the fastest route at different times of day and plan around the predictable slow spots on the highway.

Families moving from a Lougheed apartment into a Coquitlam or Port Moody house are common, usually trading a smaller unit and an elevator booking for a driveway and a garage that needs its own kind of planning.

What to expect

Expect a mix of building rules depending on which side of Lougheed you are on. We ask a few extra questions during the quote here specifically to work out which category your move falls into, since a Lougheed job can look completely different depending on the block.

The SkyTrain interchange as a landmark

The Lougheed Town Centre SkyTrain interchange is the reference point most people use when giving directions here, and it works just as well for planning a move. Towers closer to the interchange tend to follow the newer booking rules, while addresses further out along the highway behave more like the older side of the neighbourhood.
